Chico AquaJets Win the Ashland
Shakespeare Swim Meet
The Chico AquaJets competed at the
2008 Shakespeare Meet this past weekend in Ashland, Oregon. The
AquaJets finished as the first place team, the host team Superior
Aquatics finished second, and Klamath Basin Swim Team finished
third. Darcie Anderson won the 15-18 girls age group high point
award by winning gold in the 100 yard freestyle, the 200 yd
butterfly, the 200 yd breaststroke, the the 50 yd free, and the 100
yd breast; and she earned silver in the 100 yd fly. Her time of
1:08.81 in the 100 yd breast set a new meet record. Ryan McGuire
won the high point award in the 13-14 boys age division by winning
gold in the 200 yd individual medley, the 100 yd free, the 200 yd
breast, the 200 yd backstroke, and the 100 yd breast; he swam to
silver in the 50 yd free. Cydni Aird won the high point award in
the 11-12 girls age division with gold medal finishes in the 100 yd
I.M., the 50 yd back, the 100 yd free, the 100 yd back, and the 50
yd breast; she swam to silver in the 200 yd I.M. and the 50 yd
free; and she finished fourth in the 400 yd I.M. Reilly Ehrlich won
the high point award in the 9-10 girls age division with gold medal
finishes in the 200 yd I.M., the 100 yd I.M., the 100 yd free, the
50 yd fly, the 100 yd back, the 50 yd free, and the 50 yd breast.
Grayson Aird won the high point award in the 9-10 boys age group
with gold medal finishes in the 200 yd I.M., the 200 yd free, the
100 yd beast, and the 50 yd breast; he swam to silver in the 100 yd
I.M. and the 100 yd fly; and he swam to fourth in the 100 yd back.
Casey Ehrlich won the high point award in the 8 and under girls age
group with gold medal finishes in the 100 yd I.M., the 50 yd back,
the 25 yd free, the 50 yd free, and the 25 yd fly; she swam to
bronze in the 50 yd breast.
Also winning gold for the AquaJets
were Daine Treff, 9, in the 50 yd back, the 100 yd free, and the 50
yd fly; Stanley Ciechanski, 7, in the 25 yd breast, the 25 yd back,
and the 50 yd breast; Jaelyn Cornwell, 6, won the 50 yd fly and the
25 yd back; Henry Hernandez, 15, won gold in the 500 yd free;
Kassandra Graham, 13, won the 200 yd back; Madison Hopkins, 9, won
the 100 yd fly; Kacey Johnson, 9, won the 100 yd breast; Ben Geise,
9, finished first in the 100 yd I.M.; Emily Hull, 7, earned gold in
the 50 yd breast; and Trinity Maxey, 8, won the 25 yd breast.
The relay team of Paige Treff,
Keely-Shaye Johnson, Kate Goldblatt, and Cydni Aird teamed up to
win the 11-12 girls 200 yd free and 200 yd medley relay. Reilly
Ehrlich, Madison Hopkins, Kacey Johnson, and Josie Cornwell
combined to win the 9-10 girls 200 yd medley and 200 yd free
relays. Grayson Aird, Jon Carpenter, Ben Geise, and Daine Treff
team to win and set new meet records in the 200 yd medley and 200
yd free relays. Regan Murray, Casey Ehrlich, Trinity Maxey, and
Jaelyn Cornwell won the 8 and under girls 100 yd medley and 100 yd
free relays. Zachary Maxey, Stanley Ciechanski, Harrison Wood, and
Liam Davis won the 8 and under boys 100 yd medley and 100 yd free
relays.
Also contributing to the team win
