The Chico AquaJets traveled to
Ashland , Oregon to participate in the Shakespeare Invitational
held at Southern Oregon University. The AquaJets finished second
behind host team Superior Aquatics and ahead of third place team
the Redding Swim Team. Grayson Aird won the High Point award in the
boys 11-12 age group. Aird swam to first place in the 200 yard
individual medley, the 50 yd butterfly, the 200 yd breaststroke,
and the 50 yd breast; he swam to second in the 100 yd I.M. and the
100 yd fly; and he swam to fourth in the 50 yd freestyle. Madison
Hopkins won the high point award in the 9-10 girls age group by
swimming to first place in all seven of her events including the
200 yd I.M., the 200 yd free, the 50 yd backstroke, the 50 yd fly,
the 100 yd back, the 50 yd free, and the 100 yd fly. Benjamin Geise
won the high point award in the 9-10 boys age group with first
place finishes in the 200 yd I.M., the 100 yd I.M., the 50 yd back,
the 50 yd fly, the 100 yd back, and the 100 yd fly; he swam to
third in the 50 yd free. Jaelyn Cornwell won the highpoint award in
the 8 and under girls age group by swimming to first in the 100 yd
I.M., the 100 yd free, the 50 yd fly, the 50 yd free, and the 25 yd
free; she swam to third in the 50 yd breast.
Also swimming to first place for the
AquaJets were Keely-Shaye Johnson, 12, in the 100 yd I.M., the 50
yd back, and the 100 yd back; Sydney Limberg, 10, in the 100 yd
I.M., the 100 yd breast, and the 50 yd breast; Emily Hull, 8, won
the 50 yd back, the 25 yd free, and the 50 yd breast; Daine Treff,
10, won the 50 yd free and the 50 yd breast; Liam Davis, 8,
finished first in the 25 yd breast and the 50 yd breast; Cydni
Aird, 13, won the 200 yd I.M.; Josie Cornwell, 11, finished first
in the 200 yd fly; John Carpenter, 11, won the 500 yd free; and
Avery Santa Ana, 7, won the 25 yd breast;.
The team of Annabelle Hopkins,
Keely-Shaye Johnson, Josie Cornwell, and Alexis Towner combined to
win the 11-12 200 yd medley relay. Madison Hopkins, Kacey Johnson,
Cheyanne Ball, and Sydney Limberg won the 10 and under girls 200 yd
medley relay and the 200 yd free relay. The team of Emily Hull,
Avery Santa Ana, Jaelyn Cornwell, and Ella Geise won the 100 yd
medley relay and the 100 yd free relay.
High School swimmers swimming
