The Chico AquaJets and Summer AquaJets are hosting a Swim-A-Thon on Tuesday, July 10th during the swimmer’s regular scheduled practice times. This is a fundraiser in which swimmers earn money for the team by swimming laps in the pool and win very nice awards for their pledges.
Swimmers get pledges from businesses, family, neighbors, etc. prior to swimming. We encourage the swimmers to collect the money prior to swimming (sponsors pledge a flat rate), although we leave the option open for them to get pledges per lap and collect the money following the Swim-A-Thon. Receipts indicating amount pledged should be given to every sponsor. 95% of all pledges are tax deductible. Please have sponsors make checks payable to the Chico AquaJets.
The goal of the Chico AquaJets is to raise $15,000.00 for the 2010 Swim-A-Thon. If everyone participates, this is a very easy number to achieve! The Chico AquaJets would like each family to strive for the following MINIMUM goals:
One Swimmer Family - $100.00
Two Swimmer Family - $175.00
Three Swimmer Family - $250.00
Four+ Swimmer Family - $325.00
Swimmers are awarded prizes for pledges turned in. Swimmers can earn these great prizes:
o $100 CAJ Swim-A-Thon T-Shirt
o $300 CAJ T-Shirt and CAJ Team Bag
o $500 USA Swimming T-Shirt, CAJ Team Bag and T-shirt
o $600 CAJ Parka or CAJ Team Warm-Up
o $750 USA Swimming Towel, CAJ Team Parka or Warm-Up, T-shirt and Bag
o $1000 USA Swimming Bag, CAJ Parka or Warm-Up, T-Shirt and Bag
*** Every swimmer who completes 100 or 200 laps receives a Swim-A-Thon pin

This will be a great experience for your swimmer. Your swimmer should set a lap goal, eg., 1000 yards (40 laps), 1 mile (66 laps), 100 laps, or 200 laps. Swimmers can take a break, switch strokes, and take their time. You will be quite surprised by what your swimmer can do!
Each swimmer uses his/her own pledge sheet, each family shares on Swim-A-Thon envelope. Extra pledge sheets are available at the pool in the Swim-A-Thon file. Families that choose to combine pledges will share their prizes.
